Melanie Pervier, the owner and trainer, spent an idyllic childhood at the family boarding stable at Muir Beach, California, surrounded by ponies and horses and riding bareback up and down the hills and on the beach. When she was old enough to start showing, the only horse available was Charlie, a horse the family had rescued from the slaughter yard as a colt. Melanie helped to train him, took lessons, and by the time she was twelve had won the SMHA Horsemanship Award (a saddle) and the Offutts Hi-Point Award. She later went on to become the CSHA Champion for two years, and the Norcal Equitaion Champion, as well as winning many other championships. She qualified for all her junior and serior medal finals. When she was seventeen she rode in the USET Junior Olympic Trials.

Melanie trained with, rode and worked for many wonderful hunter/jumper trainers- Bitsy Shields, Larry Larson, Lucy Wharton, and Curtis Nelson. She took clinics with George Morris, Victor Hugo Vidal, Nick Karasisses, Gay Talmey and Wilson Denehi. She also recived training and competed very successfully at Foxfield Riding School in Los Angeles. During her Junior years she trained with Angela Littlefield in dressage, so that she could compete in three day eventing. Melanie competed in both Northern and Southern California in both hunter/jumper events as well as dressage and three day eventing.

Since 1975 Melanie had trained horses and has instructed riders of all ages and at all levels. Additionally she is a well known local hunter/jumper judge, and when time allows gives clinics.
